The inspiration behind our name
“People usually consider walking on water or in thin air a miracle.
But I think the real miracle is to walk on earth.
Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don’t even recognize: a blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the black, curious eyes of a child—our own two eyes. All is a miracle..”
This mindfulness verse by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh inspired our name – Walking on Earth. It serves as our daily reminder that the simplest actions in life, like walking, require complex processes in the brain and body, and should not be taken for granted. All living must be done with awareness. We strive to live by that mantra every day.
A personal story
Every entrepreneur remembers their ‘what if’ moment. It’s the moment an idea is born from a desire for change. Our founder Reeva Misra was working an intense corporate job for a pharmaceutical AI company in London, when she realised it was time to approach health differently. She saw first-hand that pharma, healthcare and insurance companies were rarely aligned with the interests of the individual.
Reeva grew up steeped in the rich history of holistic practices. She decided to take time out, left for India and trained as a teacher in Jivamukti yoga, all the while researching ancient Ayurvedic medicine. Two degrees from Oxford and Yale, one specialising in experimental psychology, focused her interest on the science of holistic health. What she discovered in terms of insight, evidence and possibility, she wanted to give to busy professionals back home. The idea for Walking on Earth was born.
When reeva met miranda
The meeting between Miranda and Reeva was like a meeting of minds. Introduced to each other by UK’s leading entrepreneur, the two connected over a shared love for true yoga. Together, they decided on a mission to bring the essence of holistic health to modern lives.
Miranda Taylor is a former editor and journalist turned yoga teacher. After decades in the intense world of media, she turned to yoga and meditation to help her transition into a new phase of personal and professional life. Miranda has 2,000 hours of training as a Yoga Therapist behind her. She is an expert in the Viniyoga tradition and has studied Ayurveda and Vedic Chanting in depth.
Why Walking on Earth
Stress: the final frontier. It shows up as fatigue, trouble sleeping, autoimmune diseases, chronic pain, and heart disease. It shows up as difficult relationships, unproductive meetings and anxiety. We sweep stress aside with ‘busyness’, flooding our lives with distractions, overworking and poor diets.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Optimal health starts with you – the person juggling work, family, friends, global events. We know what that pressure feels like. We’ve been there.
That’s why we’re creating a beautiful world of holistic health where you can feel the difference with the best practitioners, the latest research and ancient practices. Think of us as your personal wellbeing guide. We offer one-to-one and group classes, personal consultations, and wellbeing advice – all adapted to your needs and lifestyle. We run plan to expand into events and seminars so that we can build a community based on a shared desire to create more conscious, healthy and fulfilled lifestyle choices.
